The 11 outdoor pools at Terme Merano: a unique summer highlight

If you’ve only visited Terme Merano in winter, you definitely need to come in summer. The thermal park, located in the heart of Merano with a view of the mountains, is open from mid-May to mid-September and is especially popular among families.

Overview of the 11 outdoor pools:

Spread across 52,124 m2 of lush greenery, you'll find plenty of shaded spots among the trees and shrubs. For sun lovers, there are wide sunny areas to lay out your towel. The outdoor area at Terme Merano features eleven distinct swimming pools, offering a great mix of family-friendly pools, sports pools, and non-swimmer pools:

  • Bio Nature Pool (temperature depends on weather)
  • Sports pool (25 °C)
  • Non-swimmer pool (28 °C)
  • Kid’s pool (28 °C)
  • Kneipp parcours (34 °C - 18 °C)
  • Spring water pool (34 °C)
  • Current pool (34 °C)
  • Cold and hot pools (18 °C - 34 °C)
  • Cooling basin (25 °C)

5 highlights you won't find in any other pool structure in Merano:

#1

More than just swimming – a full water experience: Terme Merano offers much more than just some swimming pools. The variety of pools here is truly unique. Athletes, non-swimmers, kids, and those looking to simply relax in the water will all find something to enjoy.

#2

Swim surrounded by nature: the Bio Nature Pool. We've transformed part of the lily pond into a natural swimming pond that operates completely without chemicals. The water is both environmentally friendly and gentle on the skin, making it suitable for allergy sufferers. The pool is heated solely by the summer sun in Merano

#3

Cold, warm, Kneipp: an adventure for feet and legs. According to Father Sebastian Kneipp's concept, you can strengthen your circulation and immune system in four steps: arm baths, water treading, thigh showers, and a barefoot path. If you see someone stumbling oddly through the thermal park, you’ll know they’re on the Kneipp barefoot path! 😉

#4

The lily pond: a safe place and relaxation spot for turtles. Often people don’t realize how quickly pet turtles grow, leading to many of them being abandoned. The Sill Animal Shelter in Bolzano has rescued these abandoned turtles and brought them to us. In our lily pond, they can now relax and bask in the sun without a care in the world.

#5

Chill in style: our 8 exclusive Relax Lounges. Looking to indulge in a bit of luxury and privacy? By booking one of our artfully designed sunbeds, you'll enjoy comfortable seating and lounging areas, along with a private, sun-protected space right in the park. From here, you can take in views of the Bio Nature Pool and the lily pond.

Family fun at Terme Merano

Your kids will find so much to explore in the thermal park that they'll never get bored, allowing you some well-deserved relaxing moments. After a refreshing rinse, they can slide down the serpentine water slide straight into the kid's pool. Nearby, there's a shaded playground with slides, swings, a carousel, and even a rocking camel and springy piglet. For older kids, and of course adults, there's a current water pool with a “washing machine” effect, a giant chessboard, the turtle pond, and the Kneipp parcours. Your children (and you) might never want to leave!

Bonus: In addition to the pools, the thermal park also features a underground steam bath (100 % humidity, 40 – 45 °C), which you can access without a sauna ticket. If a full day of swimming and relaxing isn't your thing and you prefer to work out, make sure you check out the multifunctional exercise spot for your workout, or let off some steam on the beach volleyball court.
