Thermal Water

spa water Merano medical

Curative, beneficial, effective

The thermal water at Terme Merano/Therme Meran comes from the Monte San Vigilio/Vigiljoch mountain near Lana and has been pumped since 1966. The thermal water is a clinically tested mineral water (pursuant to Decree no. 2677 of 30.06.1966 of the Provincial Medical Officer in conjunction with the authorisation issued by the Ministry of Health in Rome on 23.06.1966), which is proven to have a curative effect.

Granite rock is a feature of the region around Monte San Vigilio/Vigiljoch and enriches rainwater deep inside the mountain with radon, fluorine and rare metals. The water is collected in a 1,200 m long tunnel between 1,503 and 1,483 m above sea level and arrives at Terme Merano/Therme Meran. The beneficial effect of the thermal water from Monte San Vigilio/Vigiljoch is not just down to its radon content though but also its ionisation, mineral salt content and the presence of gases and rare metals.

Thanks to these properties and ingredients, the thermal water is particularly suitable for the treatment of chronic respiratory diseases and rheumatic joint problems. At Terme Merano/Therme Meran the thermal water is also used for thermal inhalations and thermal baths.
