The thermal water originates from Vigiljoch near Lana (8 km from Merano) and has been sourced since 1966. A 1.200 m long tunnel channels the water directly from the thermal springs to Terme Merano. The area around Vigiljoch is characterized by granite, which enriches the mountain’s rainwater with radon, fluoride, and rare metals. The healing properties of the thermal water have been clinically proven (According to the decree of the Provincial Medical Officer No. 2677 dated 30.06.1966, based on the approval of the Ministry of Health in Rome dated 23.06.1966).
The water owes its powerful effects not only to its radon content but also to its ionization, mineral salt content, and the unique combination of gases and metals. The thermal water at Terme Merano is especially suitable for treating chronic respiratory diseases and rheumatic joint conditions. That’s why we use the water for thermal inhalations and thermal baths.
